Major Recruitment are working unison with our prestigious client, a well-established and leading supplier of quality meat products. Based in Telford, Shropshire, our client manufacture and distribute only the highest quality beef to foodservice professionals, wholesalers and retailers across the UK and internationally.

We are looking for an experienced Hygiene Supervisor who's primary purpose is to ensure good hygiene standards are maintained within the organization. The Hygiene Supervisor will oversee hygiene personnel to ensure they are aware of all chemicals used on site, adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, and report any damages or defects of machines and hygiene equipment.

Responsibilities of a Hygiene Supervisor include;

• Supervise hygiene operators to ensure all cleaning is completed to the required standard, while adhering to personal hygiene rules and statutory health and safety requirements.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels and deputize for the Hygiene Manager when necessary, communicating any staff absences to the Hygiene Manager.
• Develop and maintain the company's hygiene documentation to meet customer and auditing bodies' requirements, ensuring all required documentation is completed and returned to the Hygiene Manager.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by highlighting equipment issues to the engineering team and Hygiene Manager, conducting root cause analysis to eliminate downtime issues and Micro OOS.
• Ensure Hygiene Operatives are trained and developed, monitor and deliver required KPIs.
• Attend hygiene-related meetings as required.
• Perform any other duties as deemed reasonable by the line manager or senior management.

Skills of a Hygiene Supervisor include;

• Food Safety Qualification.
• Previous experience working in food manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
• Team player with the ability to self-manage.
• Ability to work flexibly to meet customer demands and the demands of the business.
• Ability to manage timescales/deadlines.
• Teamwork skills.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in liaising with customers.
• Experience in completing finished product specifications.
• Labelling knowledge and awareness of relevant legislation.
• An internal audit qualification would be an advantage.
