Job description

Supporting businesses and communities on their journey to a low carbon future.

Severn Wye delivers a range of sustainable energy services in the fields of affordable warmth, energy efficiency and renewable energy. Our flagship local projects are delivered on behalf of the local authorities in Wales and support a range of households to improve energy efficiency and avoid fuel poverty.

This role is responsible for conducting energy surveys, feasibility studies and providing technical information and advice to small businesses and community buildings for improving the energy and resource efficiency of their premises and processes.

Within reason, you will be required to carry and use a ladder to inspect loft spaces, and you may have to access other small, enclosed spaces such as cupboards or basements, while maintaining your own personal safety, and that of others.

The ideal candidate will be well-organised, have high standards of work and love working in a team environment. Our staff value the flexibility offered by Severn Wye, along with the training and development opportunities they are offered. If you’re looking for a job that gives you variety and a sense of pride in what you do, then we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re looking to strengthen your career, broaden your experience and contribute to a sustainable future while doing so, we’d love to hear from you.

This post requires a satisfactory DBS check and appropriate references.

Why you’ll enjoy working with us

Ok, we know that other sectors often pay a little more, but we are confident that there is much more to working at Severn Wye that will make this a rewarding role to have.

We all have bills to pay, and we offer salaries comparable with other organisations in the non-profit sector. But there is more to some jobs than money. We love what we do. Our staff enjoy the relaxed and supportive work environment, and having colleagues who are knowledgeable, generous and committed to making a difference. Our flexible working arrangements are designed to accommodate the work/life balance our people need depending on where they are in their life and career, which means we benefit from the experience and enthusiasm of employees of all ages and backgrounds.

We’ll provide the training you need to help you grow in your role and get to grips with the energy landscape. You’ll start on 24 days, increasing to 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and have excellent support for the future such as Group Life Assurance and company pension scheme with employer contributions of 7% when you put in 5% or more. We get together regularly for social events and look after you outside work hours with employee discounts on a range of outlets, including discounted gift cards and cashback.

If this sounds like an environment in which you’d thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
