The Trust, which treats 59,000 patients every year, makes a global and national contribution to cancer research and treatment by working collaboratively with the Institute of Cancer Research, NHS partners across the capital, and with RM Partners, the Cancer Alliance for West London, and works to ensure excellent cancer care for the widest possible population, to accelerate early diagnosis, and to develop new models of care, bringing together both CQC-Outstanding NHS and private patient services.
Chaired by Sir Douglas Flint, The Royal Marsden’s Board has a critical leadership role across the full breadth of this extraordinary organisation’s work and future plans, supporting and challenging the executive team to ensure that the Trust delivers to the stretching goals cancer requires it to set. At this time of huge possibility and challenge for healthcare as a whole, The Royal Marsden will appoint a new Non-Executive Director to its high-performing Board to succeed Chris Clarke, whose term comes to an end in August 2024. The new appointee will contribute to the Board’s strategic thinking and planning.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cancer care and research at the highest level, in a globally-recognised organisation that is wholly committed to that challenge. In this appointment, The Royal Marsden are looking for an established leader with Board-level experience in a significant public, private or third sector organisation to join them, bringing the breadth of their professional and personal experience to the Trust’s strategy, leadership and performance. Whether an experienced Board leader or stepping into their first non-executive role, the ideal candidate will possess well-developed strategic and influencing skills, a track record of successful leadership through innovation and transformation, and a demonstrable commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
The successful candidate will demonstrate absolute commitment to the Marsden’s values – pioneering change, pursuing excellence, working collaboratively and showing kindness – and will bring the breadth of their professional and personal experience to the Trust’s leadership as it strives to deliver its five-year strategic plan, and beyond.
