The Nuclear Threat Reduction Special Projects Group is looking to recruit a dynamic and innovative person to deliver science and technology-based projects, focussed on ballistics and explosive effects, to support UK government customers. We would like to hear from candidates who are able to demonstrate the following:
  • Significant experience in designing and implementing high-rate and explosively driven event diagnostics in deployed environments.
  • Track record of designing and optimising high-rate image acquisition and analysis systems for dynamic environments.
  • Experience with low voltage electronic system design.
  • An understanding of industry standard event data acquisition systems.
  • Experience of managing their own time to deliver tasks to cost against project deadlines, together with drive and initiative.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders.

The candidate is required to have practical and theoretical working experience in equal measures and be capable of working alone and/or as part of a team to deliver a broad range of technically complex projects. The candidate will be responsible for capability maintenance activities as well as supporting the development of new capabilities relevant to our mission area. To be successful you will need excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to guide a range of stakeholders through technical concepts. To be considered for the role, you must have a degree or higher qualification in a suitable scientific or technology-based discipline; or proven experience working in a similar environment.
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and, on occasion, work away from home under field conditions. After selection, additional professional training and education will supplement the successful candidate’s baseline experience.
Please note that you must be a British Citizen to apply for a role with us.
