Play Away Day Nursery Southampton City has an opportunity for a Deputy Manager to come and join our diverse staff team. The nursery is located a 5-minute walk from Ocean Village and a 10 minute walk from the Saints Stadium.
In this role you would be supporting the manager in leading the team and running the nursery alongside using your leadership skills and inspiring the staff and children across the nursery.
As a nursery we celebrate our staff's individuality embedding staff strengths, culture, and inspirations into our curriculum. Staff receive acknowledgement for their achievements and enjoy a large staff room to unwind in with games and positivity jars. The nursery prides itself on building a culture of teamwork, togetherness, and support. This is reflected in the staff team's dedication and length of service with most staff ranging from 5-20 years at the nursery.
Play Away City rated GOOD by OFTSED in January 2023 has 4 spacious children's room each with access to a large and inviting garden space and a sensory room. The pre-school room that you would be supporting has a calm and inviting environment with natural resources. The room brings awe and wonder within the planning and implementation of activities and experiences ensuring children's cultural capital is at the forefront.

Nursery Deputy Manager main duties and responsibilities :
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff, parent, and visitor at all times.
Understand and ensure that the requirements of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met throughout the nursery.
Assist in managing the acceptance and administration of medication and ensure care plans are thorough and up to date for children or staff with health conditions.
Ensure that all children receive stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources that are appropriate to their age and stage of development.
Promote respect and credibility for this position through effective communication skills, impartiality, and consistency.
Inspire staff team with creative ideas and new challenges with aim to achieve outstanding practice.
Maintain accurate records and accounts relating to children and staff on EyMan system and on file.
Undertake any other duties to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and safety and wellbeing of children, staff, and families.

Requirements and Skills for Nursery Deputy Manager:
Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification - Essential
Over 1 years' experience of working in Early Years - Essential
Sound knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements - Essential
Over 1 years' experience of working in a management position - Desirable.
Level 5 qualification in Childcare and/or Management and Leadership - Desirable
Experience of successfully passing an Ofsted inspection to good or outstanding - Desirable
