Nursery Practitioner
Job Summary
The post holder will work as part of a team to provide high standards of childcare and education to the children in the nursery, ensuring the aims and objectives of the nursery are fulfilled and provide a safe, caring environment.

Job Type: Temporary
Duration of booking: Expected to last 3 months with possible extension
Proposed start date: ASAP
Pay Rates: Up to £13.30 per hour Umbrella or £12 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Hours / Working Days: 37.5 hours per week / Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm (Part-time shifts maybe considered)

Main Responsibilities and Duties
* To assist the Lead Nursery Practitioners in providing an attractive and stimulating range of equipment, activities and displays indoors and out, relevant to the age and needs of the children in the group, which encourage independence, self motivation and eagerness to learn.
* To commit to the nursery’s Equality and Diversity policy.
* To be a key person for a group of children, observing their development at regular intervals and contributing towards planning for their future development. Assist with the accurate recording of each child’s development.
* To follow guidelines of the ‘Early Years Framework’ with all children within the nursery
* To accurately record any injury or accident on an accident /incident report form and inform the parent.
* To assist the Lead Nursery Practitioners in ensuring that the diet provided is nutritious, well balanced, and multi-cultural and takes account of special dietary needs e.g. health, religion.
* To maintain a high standard of hygiene in relation to self, children, equipment and surroundings, following the Trust Infection control policies and procedures
* To recognise the need for medical attention and carry out appropriate action or report to a Lead Nursery Practitioner.
* To assist in preparing each child for the transition to school by encouraging participation in pre school activities.
* To assist in planning and accompany the children on outings.
* To be fully aware of and adhere to the nursery’s Safeguarding Policy
* To be aware of and adhere to Health and Safety and Infection Control codes of practice, policies and procedures.
Skill knowledge and Experience
* N.N.E.B, CACHE Diploma or equivalent level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare and Education
* Experience with children 6 months – 5 years, including under 2’s in childcare setting
* Self motivation
* Understands children’s needs and behaviors
* Ability to help children to respect people of different race, ability, gender, religion and culture.
* Effective communication and Organisational skills
* Ability to manage children’s behavior in a consistent and positive manner.
* A clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality
