Are you an Operational Excellence specialist with a passion for people, building relationships and implementing change?

Do you get excited in designing and delivering process improvements, streamlining operations, reducing costs and optimising overall efficiency?

With a balance of continuous improvement and project management, our Operational Excellence Delivery Leads lead, coordinate and deliver process improvement projects aligned to agreed business priorities and our own way of driving improvements, the Unipart Way.

We’re looking for an Operational Excellence Delivery Lead to join our Transformation team in Doncaster with the ability to travel to other Unipart sites around the country.

In this role you’ll be accountable for delivering fit for purpose Operational Excellence improvement initiatives, owning and delivering a range of improvement projects, sponsored at Functional Lead level, which deliver against agreed strategic (PDM) targets. You will support the build of continuous improvement capability across the business to ensure the Unipart Way is core to the way the business operates.

This role is combining essential Operational Excellence and Project Management responsibilities to support the delivery of our strategic change initiatives.

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

  • Experience of delivering Operational Excellence/ Continuous Improvement with data analysis and colleague engagement to drive tangible results.
  • Ablility to self manage workload and weather changing business pressures whilst staying focused on overall objectives; a strong level of business resilience.
  • People management and project leadership skills, and ability to motivate employees in a high pressurised environment.
  • An engaging and collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels, to drive action.
  • Excellent communication skills - spoken, written, presenting.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in or across Logistics, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Supply Chain environment or Rail related industries.


We’d love it if you had:

  • Experience in support functions such as Procurement, Finance, IT.
  • Lean Six Sigma certified to Green or Black Belt level, and if not, be prepared to work towards it.
  • Experience in working with implementing automation solutions such as ERP enhancements, SQL, RPA.
  • Change Management qualification and experience.

What’s Involved:

  • Work with senior management to interpret strategic priorities into operational change plans, aligning systems and working practices to ensure sustainable change.
  • Lead major change programmes whilst coordinating corresponding continuous improvement activity that may impact on it.
  • Lead projects which deliver significant improvements to operational processes, reduce waste, build quality and enhance customer experience.
  • Work through defined project scopes; be responsible for delivery of projects and reporting on progress and priorities to achieve a positive outcome for the business.
  • Refine and develop standard processes, work instructions and process maps documentation for efficient ways of working and share best practices across the teams.
  • Contribute to the development of a sustainable Continuous Improvement culture (the Unipart Way) through building capability with the teams you work in and with.
  • Act as a coach for peers to facilitate continuous improvement and embed the Unipart Way into the heart of everything we do.
  • Select appropriate tools and techniques, aligned to supporting our Unipart Way culture and way of working.
