Location: Hybrid Working - required to be on site at the London office a minimum of one day a week.

The Role
To support in the delivery of key functions of the Civil Aviation Authority Pension Scheme (CAAPS) finance department, including the production of financial reporting and management information, and the submission of accurate and timely returns to HMRC.
- Production of monthly asset schedules from investment custodian reporting to support investment decision making by the senior management team.
- Production of cashflow forecasting and ongoing monitoring of cash requirements for the pension scheme.
- Coordination with the wider Civil Aviation Authority to ensure IT hardware, software and mobile phone requirements are met for the London office team.
- Posting of monthly cash transactions to the accounting system.
- Responsibility for producing quarterly VAT returns and ensuring they are submitted and paid to HMRC in accordance with statutory deadlines.
- Analysing and distributing invoices from key suppliers for review by the senior management team.
- Ongoing monitoring of investment distributions and receipting them into the pension scheme’s custodian bank.
- Provide cover when required for the pension scheme’s accounts payable and treasury functions.
- General finance administration tasks as required to ensure the smooth running of the CAAPS finance department.
About You
Essential:
- Previous experience working within the finance function of an organisation.
- An ability to work to deadlines, be proactive and organise own time.
- A flexible attitude and a willingness to take on new tasks as and when they arise.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral.
- Confident in analysing and working with numerical data.
- Working knowledge of IT/business infrastructure and MS Office.
- Must have a clear desire to want to learn about defined benefit pension schemes.
Desirable:
- Relevant accounting qualification.
- Previous exposure to pension schemes would be beneficial.
Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
SC - To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.
