A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A OPERATIONS MANAGER AT THE MET HOTEL
2024 is set to be an exciting year for The Met with plans to restore the hotel from inside-out and transform from top to bottom; If you’re truly passionate about your career in hospitality and ready for your next challenge, then we want to hear from you!
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the operational departments within the Hotel, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food Beverage, Conference Banqueting and Kitchen. As Operations Manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of the hotel ensuring all our guests, and colleagues, have a great experience at The Met.
Whilst effectively managing all the operational departments is essential, the successful candidate must have extensive knowledge of hotel Food Beverage and Conference Banqueting to support the busy operation.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you can expect your working day to include the following.
- Responsible for creating, implementing, and monitoring standards across all areas of the business, open to taking risks to improve and challenge the status quo, and encourage the Head of Departments to thrive and reach their full potential.
- Responsible for leading the Duty Management team; whilst undertaking DM shifts, you will also take a lead on the training and setting the standard for our DMs, ensuring expectations are exceeded and guest service is maintained to the highest of standards.
This isn’t an office role – you will lead from the front but will also be managing things from behind the scenes!
This is a great challenge for an Operations Manager; where there is also an opportunity to develop your understanding and experience in areas such as revenue, sales and finance and get involved with and contribute to the overall strategic planning of moving the hotel forward.

To succeed in the role of Operations Manager, you will need the following qualities and skills.
- Experience as a Senior Manager/Head of Department within a Hotel operations department for a minimum of 2 years or more
- Organised, committed to delivering excellence and able to work under pressure.
- Passionate to bring new ideas, deliver on our promises and inspire those around you.
- Ability to predict problems before they arise, manage expectations and deal with any service recovery concerns which may occur.
- Be confident in working with KPIs and influencing performance standards.
- Be a natural leader with outstanding delegation skills. You will share your skills and experience and model behaviours that will inform, inspire and develop others.
- Have an eye for detail in every aspect of the daily operations including Service standards, Guest experience, Health Safety/Diligence, Staff Development and Management, and HR Processes
You’ll be a passionate leader with a natural ability to inspire, motivate and support your HODs in delivering excellence and memorable experiences to all.
