The Optical Assistant will be responsible for:
- Assisting members to choose an appropriate product to suit the lens prescription
- Measure members for pupillary distance using a pupilometer and to observe the line of sight to determine bifocal placement
- Checking contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against prescription prior to dispensing to members, fitting and adjusting as appropriate
- Ensuring stock and equipment levels are maintained and ensure correct ordering to accommodate
- Ensuring the Optical department is kept clean and tidy at all times ensuring the appropriate cleaning tasks are completed according to policy and procedure
- Oversee Apprentices as required
The successful part time Optical Assistant will have the following skills/attributes:
- Licensed Optician experience preferred
- Experience of working within an Optical department
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- IT literate
- Flexibility with regards to working full time hours (between the hours of 04.00-23.00 Monday-Sunday)
