What is the overall job?
This position will be based on our Television Centre Project in White City. The Façade Package Manager is responsible for the overall technical co-ordination of the façade construction process (in conjunction with the senior management team), through the co-ordination and documentation of design and program requirements. The role provides a link between design, building trades and sub-contracts to ensure project objectives are met.
Other key responsibilities and experience will include:
- Develop the façade supply chain
- Support the preconstruction and construction teams in all aspects of facade engineering including design development, procurement and construction.
- Manage changes to engineering design whilst being mindful of budgetary requirements.
- Assist Quantity Surveyors, Commercial/Procurement Managers to prepare subcontract packages.
- Maintain awareness of contractual obligations of both the head contract and subcontract.
- Act as a conduit of communicating relevant information as appropriate to consultants, authorities, site supervisors, construction workers and sub-contractors.
- Ensure all direct reports are aware of the project's goals and objectives, and the connection of their role to these goals and objectives.
- Co-ordinate the activities of design management and provide a link between the design and construction to ensure the buildability of a design.
- Assist with the integration of services and design co-ordination during project planning.
- Undertake programming, planning and forecasting to ensure construction activities take place within overall construction program.
- Ensure that sub-contractors meet all the BMCE requirements before commencing on site (e.g. QITP in place, pre-start meeting held, H&S requirements are met)
The suitable candidate will have previous experience and knowledge of the facade construction industry, experience delivering complex facades. Other keys skills and experience will include:
- Have knowledge and experience of managing precast cladding and curtain walling (panels and stick systems)
- Previous experience managing the environment, health & safety (EHS) requirements of large scale projects
- Technical competence in façade design and ability to carry out due diligence studies of drawings and specifications
- Personal leadership, integrity and creativity on technical cutting-edge projects
- EHS training to demonstrate competency to provide expert support and guidance to the project team in order to take responsibility for the key aspects of this post
- Ability to manage situations with stakeholders who are not contractually bound to deliver what the project requires in any timeframe at all
