Job description
As a Paintshop Stripper/Fitter, you would be responsible for tasks and activities such as:
- Carry out stripping of vehicle body parts and trims
- Secure/account for any stripped and replacement parts
- Re-fit the relevant parts/trims after they’ve been repaired by the Painters
- Liaise with other Team Members in order to achieve maximisation of process efficiency
- Adhere to environmental disposal practices and regulations
- Assist in other paintshop tasks such as leathering and jet washing when required
- Take part in and adopt to any required training on Cargiant’s constantly-evolving range of paintshop equipment and solutions
Duties/Responsibilities
- Performing the above tasks in a timely manner by using relevant tools as necessary in line with vehicle-specific job cards
- Delivering a high-quality output as per Cargiant’s stringent vehicle preparation standards
- Recording progress of job activities on Company’s internal scan system
- Communicating and consulting any on-job additions, issues or snags with the Management
- Where applicable, reporting any other vehicle faults found to Managers, undertaking ad hoc duties as requested by them
- Moving vehicles to and from designated paintshop areas as per process flow and within prescribed speed limits
- Maintaining good standards of housekeeping and workmanship in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines and Company Policies
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- It is each employee’s responsibility to ensure that the environment in which they work in is safe for them and others
- This includes reporting all accidents and near misses to Management
- Reporting any potential issues which could cause harm or lead to accidents
- Handling any hazardous substances in compliance with the relevant Health and Safety regulations
- Ensuring correct usage of PPE where required
- Acting in line with standards set out in the Health and Safety Manual and Company Handbook
Essential Requirements
- Ideally NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent certification) in vehicle body repair & paint or automotive maintenance & repair (or proven relevant experience)
- A full and valid driving licence
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as in a team
- Willing to perform any ad hoc duties in a workshop based environment
- Able to work in the outdoor elements with a flexible approach to work
