Job description

Clinical To provide support to identified parents/carers and babies, promoting the parent-infant relationship through provision of emotional support and psycho-education (with support and oversight from the wider Navigo PAIR team). To provide support to families within a variety of community settings under the direction of the PAIRS clinicians, taking into account the diverse needs of the community. To plan and deliver health enhancing activities for children and their families; including working in groups, helping parents attend child health clinics, developmental review clinics, postnatal groups and on an individual basis To support delivery across the four service strands (direct clinical work; consultation; training; community engagement) where required to both individuals and groups. To maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all work, adhering to Trust standards for record keeping where notes are added to the system within 24 hours. To liaise with health, social and voluntary care organisations to ensure effective assessment, care planning and to provide feedback on outcomes. To provide low level engagement work, to allay worries relating to engaging in therapeutic support in relation to Perinatal Mental Health and engaging with PAIR interventions. To provide community support in the delivery of a programme of interventions under the guidance of a designated Lead Clinician, including perinatal emotional wellbeing support and parent infant relationship interventions (such as Video Interaction Guidance, Grobrain, the Solihull approach). To support and encourage parents to consider peer support in family hubs. To provide support to families within a variety of community settings under the direction of the PAIR clinicians, taking into account the diverse needs of the community. To provide monitoring visits to support the management of risk in the community under the direction of the PAIRS clinicians. To report the outcome of such monitoring contact to relevant clinicians. To be fully aware of and understand local safeguarding policies and procedures To work in partnership with Children Centres and Early Years settings to promote health and well-being. To participate in clinical and management supervision with relevant overseeing clinician. To liaise with other agencies and services to provide integrated and cohesive support for children and their families, under the direction of the PAIR clinicians To provide care that is evidence based and support others in their developing their practice To contribute to the development of planned teaching programmes and participate in the training for students and new staff To review own professional practice and demonstrate commitment to on-going development; including annual review. To support new staff and students in placement by contributing to the provision of a suitable learning environment and experience Communication Demonstrate a high level of communication skill which is sensitive and enables parents to absorb and act on advice. Be able to keep clear and contemporaneous records electronically. To develop constructive working and therapeutic relationships with parents/ carers and their families and communicate effectively with them and the networks surrounding them. To develop constructive working relationships with professionals from other service, including but not limited to; Midwives, Health Visitors, GPs, Childrens centres and other Mental Health services. Report back to the appropriate team member any significant changes in the client circumstances that may impact on their safety or the safety of others. Overcome barriers to communications such as language differences, learning differences. Provide empathy and reassurance between persons involved within scope of the role To provide information and participation as appropriate in case conferences and reports relating to specific cases Planning Plan and manage own workload and contribute to organisation of the team and the service. Work in line with the Lone Working Policy and highlight any health and safety concerns as required. To be responsible for own activity data reporting. Policy Adhere to appropriate Navigo policies and procedures. Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of service users and organisational change following the appropriate consultation. To adopt a proactive approach to developing new service initiatives alongside other team members. Finance There will be no responsibility for financial resources. Staff will be responsible for any equipment assigned to them in their role i.e. laptops, resources for groups, telephone etc. Information The post holder will be required to use computer systems and update their IT skills accordingly with support from Navigo Research To support the clinicians in the collection of data for audit. To participate in research, audit and data collection as required
