The role
Reporting to both the Group Solicitor/Company Secretary and the Commercial Property Solicitor, the Legal/Commercial Secretary is responsible for the day to day administrative support and associated tasks of the Legal/Commercial Team.
This role is essential in delivering a smooth and organised service, which underpins and facilitates all Legal/Commercial activities for the Group.
This part-time role is based upon 20hrs per week, across 5 days, to include at least 3 days based onsite at our central offices in Letchworth. Therefore the salary range displayed will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
Key accountabilities
- Complete a variety of administrative duties utilising MS Packages in an accurate and timely manner
- Type (audio and copy) all general correspondence, including memos, emails, relevant documents and forms
- Complete various contract amendments and formatting
- Complete Land Registry applications, SDLT returns and searches
- Fully adhere to legal and company policies ensuring the confidentiality of all company documents and information at all times
- Perform thorough legal research from multiple sources, providing clear summaries and highlighting key points in order for the team/business to make sound decisions.
- Ensure that all work is dealt with efficiently and that the relevant parties are kept regularly informed about progress
- Provide a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Perform other job-related duties as required by both the Group Solicitor/Company Secretary and the Commercial Property Solicitor
Skills & experience
- Legal secretarial experience and familiarity with a variety of legal documents.
- Strong administrative background with exceptional organisational and time management capabilities
- Possess a logical and methodical approach, with excellent attention to detail and an excellent level of IT skills (MS Packages)
- Sound understanding of legal compliance when handling confidential and business sensitive data
- Confident and influential communicator, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels
- Capacity to cope with quickly changing requirements, with the ability to work calmly under pressure when dealing with competing priorities
- Team orientated with the ability to demonstrate resilience and build trust
