SalaryCloudStone Education are seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time School Librarian to join a school based in Wandsworth. As the School Librarian, you will play a crucial role in promoting literacy, supporting curriculum objectives, and encouraging a lifelong love of reading among students.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the school library, ensuring it is a welcoming and organised space conducive to learning and exploration
- Select, acquire, and catalog books, periodicals, and other materials relevant to the curriculum and student interests
- Assist students and staff in locating resources and conducting research, fostering information literacy skills
- Plan and implement engaging library programs and activities to promote reading, literacy, and a love of learning
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction and support curriculum goals
- Foster a culture of reading by promoting recommended reading lists, book clubs, and author visits
- Stay current with developments in children's and young adult literature, educational technology, and library science
- Maintain library records, including circulation, inventory, and budget expenditures
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a library or educational setting preferred
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Passion for promoting literacy and fostering a love of reading among children and young adults
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents
- Proficiency with library management systems and technology
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
