Part time, 25 hours a week. Working Saturday and Sunday 6.30am to 7.30pm.

Portsmouth Core Homelessness provides support to up to 62 adults, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This service operates across three locations, each is tailored to the needs of the clients and offer various levels of support.
Our aim is to support clients with their individual needs to enable them to gain the life skills to move on to lower or independent supported living.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support clients by prompting and helping them to attend appointments
- Encourage their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering, if appropriate.
- Help them develop their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking and housework, laundry, health and hygiene
- Support to move clients on from the service, to suitable accommodation options
- Work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community
- Attend meetings to support your clients, where appropriate and required
- Empower clients to achieve the outcomes they identify as desirable for independent living
- Offer support to clients to address all issues leading to their homelessness ie, substance use, mental health or debt
- Involve clients in the smooth running if the hostel environment and help to maintain a welcoming, safe environment, identifying and minimising all potential risks to users of the premises, organisation and property
- Update client records using relevant systems to a good standard
- Work in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures
- Be extremely conscientious in areas such as safeguarding and lone working
- Attend supervision, appraisal, training and meetings as directed which may be outside your normal working pattern
- Any other reasonable task as requested by a member of staff
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
- Clear verbal and written English
- Good IT and keyboard skills
- Polite, assertive manner, ability to self -motivate
- Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
- Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation
- Have an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies

We were formed in April 2001 through the merger of the Society of St Dismas (founded in 1962) and St Petroc Housing association (founded in 1972). Both organisations shared a passion for housing and supporting vulnerable single people.

We support 16-65 year olds. Our services include outreach to rough sleepers, supported accommodation (direct access hostels, move-on accommodation, and resettlement flats), day centres, community support, housing first and landlord support services.
