Job description

Payroll Manager
Permanent Contract
37 hours per week (full-time)
Based at our London Head Office (N1) with hybrid working
£45,513 - £49,572* per annum inclusive of Inner London Weighting

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Payroll team at a pivotal time, as we move to a new integrated HR and Payroll System (iTrent) for 2024 and beyond.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be the Payroll lead on our ongoing system
implementation and process improvement projects, ensuring that the Payroll team are trained in the new processes effectively. You will be responsible for overseeing complex payroll calculations and will ensure the efficient administration of a number of our pension schemes, including our Group Personal Pension, The Teacher’s Pension and LGPS. At the heart of this role is the responsibility for overseeing and managing the payroll requirements of the organisation; ensuring accurate and timely payment of monthly salaries.

You will have an eye for detail and will strive for continuous improvement to help us to worksmarter and further develop our systems and processes.

With your deep understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and regulations, you will be able to lead us through the implementation of our new payroll system, iTrent. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly HR and Finance colleagues, to ensure that our payroll processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with our business needs; to best support our dedicated workforce.

In order to do all of this effectively, the successful candidate will also need to be a confident
communicator with the ability to communicate complex information effectively, and the ability to work under pressure and to adapt to changing priorities.

You don’t need to have worked in the not-for-profit sector before, but you do need demonstrable experience of delivering a payroll function in an organisation of similar scale and/or complexity. Due to the way that Family Action operates, we regularly deal with TUPE transfers, employees on various terms & conditions of employment, and must adapt quickly to changing business needs to ensure that pay is processed accurately. If you have experience working in this way, why not check out the Job Description and Person Specification for a little more information about the role and what we’re looking for?
