People Manager (Hrbp) (Fixed Term Contract)

In a nutshell

We are seeking an experienced People Manager (frequently referred to as HRBP in other organisations) with a passion for employee engagement and a track record in delivering practical HR guidance. While this is a 12-month fixed-Term Contract (maternity cover) there is ample opportunity to make an impact from day 1 and gain invaluable career experience.

What you'll be doing day to day

• Provide expert and practical guidance to stakeholders on a range of employment issues, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management.
• Coach, advise and support stakeholders on talent management and engagement matters.
• Contribute to strategic projects related to HR transformation and improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the implementation of annualised events such as performance/career discussions and pay reviews.
• Develop and advise on HR policies in compliance with the latest employment legislation.
• Collaborate with colleagues in L&D, Recruitment and People Services to deliver timely, appropriate, and integrated HR solutions.
• Utilise HRIS and other tools for data analysis, offering insights for effective decision-making.

About you

• Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced professional HR environment.
• Proven expertise in managing absence, performance, disciplinary, and grievance casework.
• Multi-faceted HR function experience, understanding employment legislation and best practices.
• Proactive, efficient, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a logical, practical approach to HR advisory.
• Personable with effective communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strategic awareness with the ability to handle ambiguity and challenges.
• Excellent prioritization skills to meet business deadlines.
• Educated to A-level (grades A-C) or equivalent, with GCSE (grades A-C/5-9) or equivalent.
• Proficient in IT tools, including Microsoft Office and virtual meeting software.
