We know that every British Airways colleague is on their own, original journey.

That’s why we believe in putting our people in control of their careers, encouraging all those who work for us to view and apply for internal job opportunities right across our airline.

Perhaps you’re ready to move upwards and take on a new challenge within your business area. Or maybe you’re inspired to move to a different department and broaden your experience.

Whichever direction you’re headed next, we want you to be able to progress in a way that feels right for you, with the support of your manager.

British Airways never stands still, and we don’t expect our people to either.

The role:

Performance Standards Manager – Absence

Do you enjoy leading and working on absence management and procedures in a dynamic fast paced environment? We are looking for a resilient leader who will be accountable for manging absence for all colleagues within the Heathrow Directorate.

As a Performance Standards Manager, you will be accountable for promoting the highest standards of conduct and performance, enabling colleagues to be at their best and fulfil their roles in the operation at Heathrow Airport. This will involve ensuring compliance with people management processes and BA policies and educating others on best practice.

What you’ll do:

You will be responsible for ensuring that your team optimally coordinate, oversee and deliver on absence management processes. You will also be responsible for providing guidance and mentor to both your team and wider Heathrow colleagues on the effective application of the absence policy.

You will also build collaborative relationships with our Trade Union partners, and with your subject matter expertise in absence, you will represent the Heathrow Support Team at a number of Trade Union forums. You will work collaboratively to drive change, taking ownership of any issues and working with the appropriate areas and stakeholders to resolve these.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Manage a team both on and off-shore ensuring absence policy and process is consistently adhered to and best practice behaviours maintained.
  • Drive a fair and consistent environment for Heathrow colleagues, striving to improve colleague engagement and motivation
  • Drive continuous improvement, focussing on opportunities to use technology and innovation to implement change and more efficient ways of working.
  • There is an expectation that you will also undertake adhoc work on an outstanding basis or provide relevant cover for other team tasks

Your experience:

  • You must be no stranger to hard work
  • You have excellent prioritisation, time management, communication, excel and written skills
  • You have experience of stakeholder management
  • You have phenomenal people management and performance leadership skills
  • You are invested in the development of your team
  • You ideally have knowledge of Policies and Industrial Relations and proven experience of working in these areas

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.

We never stand still, and we don’t expect our people to either.

Inclusion & Diversity

At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is really important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work.

Inclusion and diversity is a key driver of innovation and we’re committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We’re looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain
