Job Description
You will be employed to work from the employer’s home in Staines, Middlesex. You will be responsible for enabling to enhance her level of independence in all aspects of her life. This role includes personal care, feeding and overnight support. The ideal candidate will require a full manual driving license.
- Full training and support will be given to the ideal candidate. No experience required.
About the employer
The employer has cerebral palsy and is a full-time wheelchair user. She is non-verbal but uses a talker to communicate and is very capable of holding a conversation. She lives independently in her lovely flat in Staines, Middlesex with her beautiful small dog. She is very sociable, loves spending with her friends, family and going for dinner and to the theatre. She is a GB Paralympian and competed in London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Main Duties
- Meet personal care and mobility needs
- Enable the employer to engage with social activities at her leisure
- Drive to and from social activities
- Assistance looking after and walking her dog
- Undertake household chores to ensure the cleanliness of the living environment
- Food shopping on a weekly basis
- Ad hoc tasks as required
Personal care
To assist her morning and evening routine, as outlined in the care plan. The list below includes but is not exclusive to the following:
- To assist with dressing and undressing
- To support with showering using the ceiling hoist
- To assist with washing and brushing her teeth
- To support her in the management of toileting and related care needs
- To assist with mobility and transfers, using correctly any specialised equipment provided
- To assist her with feeding
Hours of work
- Flexible shift patterns in Staines, Middlesex
- Flexible hours to be mutually agreed
Job Requirements
- Must hold full manual driving licence and be comfortable driving adapted vehicle
- Fluent in English
- Reliable, honest and trust worthy
- Physical ability to care for the employer
- Ability to plan, organise, and multitask with minimal supervision
- Good time management skills
- Excellent communicator and ability to build relationships
- Full DBS certificate
- Must be comfortable with Dogs
Salary, Benefits and Pension
- Salary available on request
- Full holiday and statutory sick pay provided
