JOB TITLE:Portfolio Surveillance Senior Data Analyst
SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £70,579 - £78,421 for outside of London. For London it is £81,598 - £90,665
LOCATION: Chester, Glasgow, Leeds or London
HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

A high-profile and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Portfolio Surveillance Senior Data Analyst within the Chief Control Officer function. The team is strategically important for our Consumer businesses to build and develop new innovative tech and data-led solutions to provide proactive assurance over key processes that protect customers and the bank.

An ideal Portfolio Surveillance Senior Data Analyst will have good technical skills, a can-do attitude, and is excellent at problem solving and critical thinking. They are also willing to learn, are highly motivated and have a passion for working with people in a collaborative way to create, build, support and improve our ability to assess risk using data.
You'll lead on the development of complex, expertise-led data-driven assurance to reflect current banking processes, business team needs and Group strategies. You'll be speaking regularly with the teams that own our processes to share findings, outputs, and customer impacts, and to ensure we build tests to meet their requirements.
You'll be Investigating when things that don't look right, using data queries, conversations with key parties and understanding to root cause You'll continuously identify and progress improvements through data and automation contributing to shaping the data and digital strategies for the team.
Respond to requests for ad-hoc pieces of analysis for the management team, presenting the outputs of your work in an engaging way that cuts through complexity and help others to develop their skills and personal capabilities through formal and informal training opportunities.

What you'll need
Strong Data Analyst background (SQL essential, Sas, Teradata, Python preferred)
Strong Data Visualisation background (PowerBI preferred)
Experience managing the full development lifecycle from requirements, design, development, testing, deployment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience of influencing a broad partner group.
You'll have a curious mind and a keen eye for detail. You enjoy exploring data and are inquisitive in nature. You use your analytical thinking and problem solving skills to get to the source of the issue.
A gift for clear communication to explain findings, particularly with a senior audience. You're great at getting the balance right between providing detail and keeping it simple in verbal or visual presentations.

Experience of working in an Agile team
Risk management experience
Finance sector experience
Experience of process automation tools (R preferred)
Experience with cloud computing (GCP preferred)
