Form of workApplicants are invited for a Research Associate in Computational Biology post, in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester.
We are looking for an experienced bioinformatician to integrate datasets in order to build a predictive Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell model. In particular, the work will aim at integrating different omics layers with genome scale metabolic modelling, and at developing new data-driven approaches to discover suitable manipulations to optimise target production outputs of CHO cell lines. The work is part of a collaborative Prosperity Partnership project that will require interactions between three Universities (Manchester, Edinburgh and York) and the FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies (FDB) biopharmaceutical manufacturing company. It will involve close collaboration with other research staff at the University of Manchester and across the other three partner sites.
You will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and previous experience of at least one of bioinformatics, systems biology or machine learning. You should also have a strong level of expertise in programming using R or Python and experience of the analysis of complex datasets and handling of computational biological resources. Evidence of a developing research publication track record will be advantageous.
