Clinical Science and Services
This is an outstanding opportunity for a researcher who has recently completed a doctoral degree in genetics, immunology, virology or molecular biology, and has relevant skills in bioinformatics.
The successful candidate will be committed to the application of their research skills to veterinary clinical questions and especially to understanding biological basis of host susceptibility in Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). This post-doctoral position is funded by the PetPlan Charitable Trust.
The successful applicant will be ambitious to broaden their research experience in a supportive and dynamic environment, undertaking a combination of laboratory work (molecular biology, functional immunology, tissue culture, high throughput sequencing library preparation) and bioinformatics analysis. This role offers the opportunity to study a naturally occurring feline coronavirus disease utilising archived patient samples as well as feline cell lines. This programme of work will also facilitate and support the development of skills in genomic analysis of the feline species.
The funding will provide salary for up to 18 Months.
Applicants will be expected to work in collaboration with, and to support, a wider multi-institution coronavirus research consortium known as MASCOT (Mapping Animal Susceptibility to Coronavirus: Outcomes and Transcriptomics). There will also be the opportunity to undertake laboratory work within the Davison group at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, University of Oxford.
