Job description

PR Officer

We are looking for a PR Officer to support the busy press office team responding to media enquiries from journalists at UK national news outlets and also assisting with research and policy communications.

Position: CE222 PR Officer

Location: Home-based UK however, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (May include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: 35 hours per week (flexible working, reduced hours and job shares welcome)

Salary: Circa £34,700 per annum (inner London weighting £3,299 per annum or outer London weighting £1,755 per annum may be applied in accordance to where you live)

Contract: Permanent

The Role

Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key national media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke and raise the profile of the stroke research.

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.
  • Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to key stakeholders, campaigners and the general public.
  • Working with the Research Communications team to promote grant opportunities, new research and respond to media enquiries.

 

About You

You will have experience of:

 

  • Generating media coverage by working with UK-wide, devolved nation, local and regional media, ideally in the charity sector.
  • Using media to deliver calls to action to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policy change).
  • Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives.
  • Working alongside policy and Public Affairs colleagues, specifically on general election or political campaigns.
  • Forming relationships with researchers and translating research into press releases.
  • Creating, posting, and managing social media content.
  • Reputation management and working with crisis communications teams.
  • Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies) and developing stories to deliver media coverage.

 

This role requires occasional travel across the country to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement of the role.
