The Practice Development Manager will spearhead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives within the MLS, thereby contributing to the growth of the professional services industry in Manchester.

This role is working within our client's market market leading MLS provider which forms an integral part of Client, an international law firm. The role will ensure that the MLS Delivery function has the necessary support to deliver the continued professional development of our paralegals and MLS lawyers in order to drive the growth of MLS Delivery. This will ensure the MLS has the capability to support increasingly complex work and to facilitate succession planning and career development within the team.
The role is a broad commercial role. While it is not essential to have experience in each of the areas of law set out below, individuals with experience in some of the following areas should find this role to be of interest:
- Commercial law and regulation

Description
- To manage/coordinate the groupwide training programme including induction training for new joiner cohorts
- Developing bespoke training offerings to meet demands for new services and jurisdictions
- Working alongside the firm's wider Practice Development Lawyers, Knowledge teams and Vario Group Service line heads to develop, maintain and coordinate technical training offerings to compliment work types across MLS Delivery
- Maintenance of the groupwide training programme calendar. Liaising with the relevant training facilitators to ensure the most up to date legal / regulatory / compliance knowledge is captured
- Manage training logistics including, booking of rooms, AV support, internal and external speakers, equipment, diary management, publicising of internal seminars and ensuring materials are made available as know how (including edited media players)
- Collating and sharing information and using a variety of platforms to display that information, to include PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
Profile
A successful Practice Development Manager should have;
- Previous experience of working in a legal or professional services environment
- Understanding of and interest in the changes in the sector, legal operations and innovative ways of delivering services
- Experience of creating and running training and development programmes. Preferably in a professional services environment
