This role requires an organisational leader who can shape company strategy with data harvested from the platform, and they will be responsible for scaling the Data Engineering and analysis function in an environment based primarily on cloud-based SaaS systems.
Overall responsibilities
To align the product objectives with a data first approach through leading and building a team of data experts. To build scalable solutions to enable deep insight into global trade using data extractions, harmonisation, governance, cleansing, transformation, visualisation, and forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a team of data analysts and engineers.
- Drive the design, development, and launch of high quality data models and pipelines in production.
- Together with product and development leads, take ownership of strategy and define all the data aspects of the solution
- Work across all solution verticals to educate product teams to embed a data first strategy in each solution
- Develop the data roadmap with a strong focus of growth, commercialisation, and innovation
- Create standard data analytics solutions within the product as well as develop specialised solutions within the embedded business intelligence tool
- Manage customer data access requests and execution of data export
- Deliver actionable internal insights to allow for continuous improvement at all levels
- Ensure that customer data is not compromised and protected to safeguard our customers unique selling points
- Setup and maintain a model for data science development
- Own and keep informed about global data protection regulations to ensure this is translated into development requirements and data management principles.
- Advise the commercial team on data ownership to ensure commercial contracts are fit for purpose
- Establish and own quality and governance standards for data and master data management, build processes to maintain accountability and ownership of good quality data
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Have a strong engineering background
- Deep experience and expertise in ETL optimization, designing, coding, and tuning big data processes
- Knowledge and experience with optimization of the distribution, partitioning, and parallel processing of high-level data structures.
- Experience of working with legacy structures to develop up- to-date evidence models and data assets
- Leadership experience in a technology business, preferably both nationally and internationally
- Demonstrated experience in hiring, retaining and scaling diverse and high-performing teams
- Assesses and evaluates risk to balance pace with quality product delivery
- Experience in building products and taking them to market
