The role is to develop and technically lead on electrical engineering requirements and design quality assurance across the programmes’ projects. The work undertaken at the site has a heavy Building Services leaning: this is due to the site including high containment facilities that rely on electrical power, ventilation, steam etc to maintain a safe operational environment, therefore Building Services design and maintenance experience preferably in the hospital environment, science and research sector (or similar regulated sectors), is essential.
Key accountabilities:
- Electrical engineering assurance of the design, installation and commissioning of projects.
- Assess and report on engineering compliance and assessing risk with responsibility for identified electrical risks and maintaining them on the risk register.
- Assess and review electrical engineering solutions proposed and delivered by programmes, ensuring proposal are fit for purpose, compliant with industry standards and delivering best practice.
Key requirements:
- Building Services design and maintenance experience preferably in the hospital environment, science and research sector (or similar regulated sectors)
- Experienced in understanding statutory compliance, the audit process and managing a busy ‘live’ estate operation
- Ability to read and interpret engineering technical drawings and BIM digital systems.
- Can demonstrate good management, leadership & person skills.
- Extensive knowledge of the design and maintenance of Building Services in large complex buildings.
- Knowledge gained through the route of craft/technician and engineering management and up to Graduate Education level.
- Knowledge of statutory & mandatory compliance and audit processes.
Desirable:
- Formal training that includes infrastructure and estate campus management.
- Professional engineer C.Eng. or I.Eng. and registered member of an appropriate professional engineering institution i.e. CIBSE, IHEEM, IET.
- Previous experience of process, laboratory or health sector that includes containment levels (CL3) or clean rooms.
- Ability to manage design consultants and contractors and in-house workforce of a multi -disciplined nature.
- Previous knowledge of process, laboratory or health sector that includes containment levels (CL3) or clean rooms.
- Significant experience in project engineering
