Principal Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear - Contract

Your new company is an industry-leading Global Consultancy within the nuclear Industry. With a strong history & future pipeline of work, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The team's work supports a number of key nuclear programmes, including the UK SubmarineProgramme, the existing nuclear generation fleet, decommissioning and high integrity structures for new nuclear establishments. The team are also increasing support for a range of exciting Civil Nuclear new build projects such as the UK SMR programme.
Your new role
Your new role will be within their Nuclear and Power business sector. You will deliver projects, be part of teams and programmes, or work directly for clients embedded into their major programmes. They achieve success by working in close partnership with clients, by matching their skills to their needs, being flexible, and by using resources efficiently. Whether you're delivering high quality engineering and technical services or programme management, they always deliver the solution that's right for them. As an engineer within the team, your work will be diverse and challenging, and you could be involved in: producing and checking of calculations, authoring technical documents, as well as supporting bidding activities in line with our clients' QA process.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering principles and their application in the nuclear industry and will have a track record of delivering technical solutions. You will have a responsible attitude towards safety and security and your experience will be throughout the complete project lifecycle. Ideally you will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent Engineering Degree, with Nuclear experience and be close to or a Chartered Engineer.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive an excellent contract rate of between £60 and £65 per hour. You will also have the option to work both hybridly and flexibly with the business. The contract length will initially be a 6 month long contract, but with scope to extend too.
