You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return,you will receive a competitive salary of £63,100 - £80,400 per annum.

About the Principal Software Developer role:
You will lead and plan development across large or multiple teams and develop capability by facilitating internal mobility, shaping career paths and recruiting talent - ensuring they collaborate, identify, test and champion the adoption of emerging technologies.
You will line manage up to six members of staff within the Software Development practice as part of this role.
Key responsibilities as our Principal Software Developer will include:
- Actively participate and contribute to the developer community
- Advocate for software quality and maintainability alongside feature development
- Assist with recruitment campaigns as a subject matter expert
- Be a visible, accessible and available point of contact to the software development community
- Collaborate with other disciplines to enable effective cross-functional delivery
- Continuously improve the quality of the software and systems produced
- Define the software development community practices, principles and values
- Define ways of working, team structure, tools, technologies, guidance and standards
- Develop and manage performance metrics
- Own and manage high level risks, dependencies and capability gaps
- Undertake strategic planning and input into organisational priorities
What we are looking for in an Principal Software Developer:
- Expert programmer using object-oriented languages (e.g. Java, Python, Delphi)
- Expert in functional and behavioural automated testing techniques (e.g. TDD, BDD)
- Experience of identifying and implementing optimisations to development processes
- Experience of engineering solutions with controls embedded to mitigate security threats
- Experience of coaching and guiding others in the application of appropriate modern standards and practices
- Experience of leadership at a departmental or organisational level
- The role may require occasional planned out of hours working in order to deal with IT changes and maintenance
