We are currently dealing with a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy who are looking to expand their team of Building Services Engineers by bringing on a Principal/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
This role benefits from a flexible working approach and can operate on a remote hybrid basis.
The suitable candidate will act as lead representative for Building Services Engineering projects, taking responsibility for all relevant workload delivery and reporting, whilst acting as a mentor to the M&E team, aiding the line manager and reporting any issues to the appropriate member of management.
The duties of this job include but are not limited to:
- Controlling and monitoring all work of their own, delivering reports in a timely manner.
- Regularly recording budget and quality parameters accurately and reporting anomalies to management.
- Understanding and implementing the group Project/Design/Change Control/Client Management processes on projects.
- Carrying out detailed surveys of and diagnosing faults in Mechanical plant, services and equipment.
- Review and verification of detailed survey information of Mechanical plant, services and equipment.
- Production and coordination of drawings, designs, Information Models, specifications, feasibilities, technical reports, tender documentation and tender reports for all aspects of Mechanical services.
- Checking all above documents produced by others.
- Providing expertise in energy consumption to optimise energy efficiency.
- Preparation of design calculations including building physics modelling using approved softwares such as TAS, IES, Cymap, Amtech, Dialux, Relux and Hevacomp.
- Contract Management, Contract administration, project management, site attendance, witnessing commissioning, defects inspections and monitoring of projects to ensure compliance with the Client’s needs.
- Ensuring that clients’ budgetary targets are being met with the assistance of the Quantity Surveyors where required.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Regulations and relevant technical standards.
- Ensuring timely payment of invoices in collaboration with the Commercial Administrator.
- Where delegated by the Line Manager ensuring that written Letters of Instruction and signed Terms & Conditions are agreed with the Client and held on record.
- Working with the Line Manager, Associate Director and the Marketing & Business Development teams to prepare and submit high quality and competitive PQQs and Fee Bids.
- Produce website news, case studies and other marketing content for all projects.
- To work closely with and aid the Line Manager and Associate Director in the development of new business opportunities and repeat business.
The suitable candidate will require:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Mechanical Design role within a professional consultancy environment.
- Ideally attained or working towards chartership.
- Familiarity with Mechanical Design software such as: TAS, IES, Cymap, Amtech, Dialux, Relux and Hevacomp or similar.
- Knowledge of BIM Level 2 processes, including BS 1192 and PAS1192:2 and ability to implement these processes on delegated projects.
- Knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering and design standards.
As previously stated, this role is operating out of Sidcup and can operate on a hybrid basis, so could be suitable for candidates in neighbouring areas such as Essex and London, or other areas within Kent.
