Our client is looking for a Private Housing Group Manager specialising in North London to Lead the Private Sector Housing and Enforcement service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Improving the quality and regulation of our private rented sector
• Improving property managing by monitoring and registration of licensed premises through: Mandatory, Additional and selective Licensing Schemes for both Houses in Multiple occupation and single occupancy dwellings
• bringing empty properties back into use
• assisting vulnerable private residents in achieving homes in good repair
• Bidding for and leading externally funded projects and programmes.
• Effective administration of disabled facilities and other housing related grants
• Leading the Councils response to privately owned tall building safety 2. Managing a number of multidisciplinary teams and key projects concerned with one or more of the major service objectives for private rented housing.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Hold an appropriate Chartered Institute of Environmental Health approved academic qualification - an MSc or BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health or equivalent degree / or equivalent vocational qualification in a related field. Evidence of continuing professional / managerial development. Extensive experience of all aspects of private sector housing work including the legal and technical aspects of the application of housing law and property licensing to standards and the regulation of accommodation and the rights and responsibilities of owners and occupiers. Extensive experience of the use and application of the Housing Act 2004 and other principal and related acts and statutory guidance. Extensive experience of providing advice on complex housing cases, promoting tenants’ rights, and promoting landlord/agent engagement. Significant experience of preparing and implementing effective enforcement strategies and securing compliance with legal requirements Proven experience of taking enforcement action including conducting PACE interviews, preparing witness statements, writing representations, and presenting evidence in court
