Why this role is important for CPI’s work

CPI has an opportunity for two Process Engineers to join the growing team at the state-of-the-art Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC). Located in Renfrewshire the MMIC is a collaboration between CPI, the University of Strathclyde, UK Research & Innovation, Scottish Enterprise and founding industry partners, AstraZeneca and GSK.

In the role of Process Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work in a newly constructed, state of the art facility. You will work on exciting, leading-edge projects which are developing how medicines are manufactured. There are two positions available. You will work as part of a team running experimental programmes on process equipment, providing insight, and supporting improvement activities. You will ensure SHE and GMP/Quality protocols and procedures are followed. You will also work with a team of Process Technicians who will be involved in developing and timetabling the tasks to ensure successful project delivery.   • To build and maintain a network of relevant internal stakeholders, to represent self and the wider team as a credible professional in networks and groups.
  • To keep self up to date with developments in areas relevant to role, and/or legislative and SHE related changes, ensuring understanding of these and any associated new best practice, methods, or techniques.
  • To support in Business Development and Bid Proposal activities, to contribute to proposal / project development and direct customer engagement.
  • To present and formally report experimental conclusions and supporting data for internal peer review and submission to clients, to agreed timescales and standards.
  • To actively engage in hazard studies / safety risk assessment studies and discussions, as appropriate to role level.
  • To set up, plan and execute experimental / pilot scale runs and analyse, interpret, and report the results of these within agreed timescales and standards and in accordance with project requirements.
  • To be responsible for providing clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations, and software use in an agreed format.

The person we are seeking

The ideal candidate for the role of Process Engineer, will posess technical expertise through theory and knowledge and be able to show evidence of technical problem solving. You will be educated to HNC or foundation degree level (or equivalent) in Scientific/Engineering discipline or Education to Batchelors, Masters or PhD level in chemical engineering, plus relevant industrial experience.

It would be great if you also had experience in Pharmaceutical manufacturing, ideally in oligonucleotides. Manufacturing and GMP experience would also be advantageous.
