Your new role
The Procurement Officer will report to the Financial Controller and will play a crucial role in providing purchasing support across all departments within the organisation.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all purchase requests adhere to the organisation\'s purchasing policy and procedures while staying within budget constraints.
- Review, categorise, prioritise, and take action on all Purchase Requisitions received from user departments.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of purchase orders, from placement to delivery.
- Source and price goods and services as needed.
- Collaborate with internal departments to discuss and negotiate prices.
- Handle enquiries from prospective suppliers.
- Provide support during tendering processes.
- Take ownership of procurement document management systems, ensuring regular reviews and updates. Highlight any areas of concern or action points.
- Regularly review and manage existing contracts.
- Provide advice and guidance on purchasing matters.
- Assist in training related to purchasing and procurement when necessary.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the organisation\'s purchasing and tender plan.
- Coordinate the annual stock take, ensuring accurate counts of all stock items. Report results and propose adjustments to the Finance Manager.
What you\'ll need to succeed
- General Education to include GCSE Maths and English grade C and above or equivalent
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience of procurement
- Experience of working within an MRP/ERP platform
- Experience using software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook and Databases
- Understanding of all aspects of the contracting process and experience of managing contracts
