Job description

Full time, 3 days a week together out of our Birmingham Hub (flexible 2 days remote wherever).

In the role of a Product Design Professional within Corporate Units, you will orchestrate the creation of new products, propositions, and services for our BT colleagues. Your role is fundamental to our collective mission of delivering seamless digital experiences for our people.
You will immerse yourself in the principles of Human-Centered Design, where you will cultivate a nuanced understanding of the dynamic interactions across various disciplines, contributing to the innovation in the Product & Design space. Your journey will include the design and hands-on experience of standard and third-party products, such as Success Factors/Ariba, where you will learn to integrate design best practices, leverage evidence-based insights, and employ data-driven design strategies. Your contributions will be key in advancing the quality and impact of our design decisions. Embracing the transformative power of GenAI, you will play a part in revolutionizing the colleague experience, aligning with our core values and the priorities of our team.
In a fast-paced and evolving environment, you will have a high degree of collaboration, working alongside Design & Product Leads, Product Owners, Engineers, and stakeholders. Role Accountabilities:

  • Design Thinking & Expertise: Strong design skills and a clear understanding of design principles, processes, and methodologies. Applying a human-centered, iterative design process to solve complex problems and create user-friendly solutions.
  • Prototyping and Wireframing: Creating low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes and wireframes to visualize and test design concepts.
  • Visual Design: Creating aesthetically pleasing interfaces aligned to design best practices and digital brand guidelines.
  • Interaction Design: Designing the interactions and behaviors of a product, ensuring it's intuitive and user-friendly.
  • Information Architecture: Structuring and organizing information and content for easy navigation and understanding.
  • Usability Testing: Conducting usability tests to gather user feedback and refine designs accordingly.
  • Strategic Thinking: Capacity to align design strategies with broader business goals and objectives.
  • Professional Development: Actively seek opportunities for professional growth and be open to receiving mentorship from senior designers to enhance design knowledge and skill set.

 

Experience & Skill Requirements:

We are looking for individuals who are open to embrace learning opportunities at every turn. You'll be fully aligned with our 'build, measure, learn' mantra, consistently prioritizing the user experience in your approach. 

 

Required:

 

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as Product Designer/UX Designer (or in similar roles).
  • The ability to take a project from inception to completion, continuously enhancing the customer experience. 
  • Previous experience working within lean and agile teams.

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with a knack for simplifying complexity. 
  • A lean approach to action, always seeking efficient ways to deliver greater value to both customers, colleagues’, and the business. 
  • An entrepreneurial and adaptable mindset, actively removing obstacles to achieve results. 

 

  • User-Centered Design: Your expertise will involve placing the end user at the forefront of the design process, actively seeking, and integrating user feedback to align products and solutions with user expectations and preferences.
  • Usability and UX Design Principles: A foundation in UX design principles is key. Understand how users interact with interfaces, including navigation, information architecture, and usability testing.
  • Design Tools: Proficiency in design software and tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Mural, Sketch etc.
  • Supporting Strategic Thinking: Support the alignment of design strategies with the company’s broader business goals and objectives.
  • Feedback Handling: Openness to giving and receiving feedback constructively to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Design System Knowledge: Clear understanding of design systems and proficiency in using design libraries and components effectively.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effective management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
