Job Description: We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Developer specializing in confectionery and sweet baked goods to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the successful development and introduction of new products while adhering to our Product and Project Development procedure.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that products and project developments conform to the Product and Project Development procedure.
- Clearly understand and specify the exact nature of developments.
- Carry out development projects as directed, maintaining accurate records and completing developments on time.
- Conduct various analyses, including analytical testing, to aid in the development of new products under the guidance of the Confectionery Development Manager.
- Coordinate the introduction of new products through proper processes, including appropriate process trials, sourcing ingredients from approved suppliers, ensuring full specifications are in place, conducting customer testing, and meeting legal and safety requirements.
- Provide support in the field as required for projects and to assist the Technical team.
- Participate in product presentations to customers in alignment with business requirements (gradual introduction).
- Communicate with suppliers as needed to obtain technical, food safety, and quality documentation.
- Work towards learning formulation, ingredient functionality, and take ownership of projects with a strong aptitude for learning.
- Uphold the company's robust health and safety culture, including following safe material procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in product development within the confectionery or sweet baked goods industry is essential
- Relevant degree or training preferred but not essential
- Proficient in analytical testing methods and data analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for innovation and creativity.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to upholding health and safety standards.
