About Us

Plastometrex (PLX) is VC-backed fast growing start-up based on the Science Park in Cambridge. We are passionate about developing novel and innovative mechanical testing systems, and we're now expanding! If you're a Product Development Engineer with an interest in electro-mechanical systems, then this could be the role for you.

About The Role

We are looking for a self-starting and enthusiastic Product Development Engineer who is passionate about working on complex science and engineering problems.

The role involves the design, specification, and implementation of new and existing electromechanical devices. You will collaborate with different teams to support the development of these products and address any issues that arise during research, testing, and hardware/software integration. You will be expected to continue developing your knowledge of materials, manufacturing techniques, and best engineering practices.

You should have a practical, flexible and self-motivated approach to your work, and you will need to feel comfortable working in a dynamic start-up environment. We are looking for people who can deliver pragmatic solutions on time and on budget and we have several immediate and exciting projects that you will be able to support us on.

Location

Cambridge Science Park.

Requirements

·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering-related field such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering.

·       Experience designing and manufacturing electro-mechanical devices.

·       Experience creating and maintaining product documentation: detailed specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.

·       Experience creating proposals for new products, improving existing products or optimizing manufacturability.

·       Knowledge of SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.

Experience In The Following Areas Would Be Advantageous

·       Expertise in Finite Element Analysis.

·       Knowledge of FMEA and technical risk analysis.

·       Experience designing and implementing test and validation procedures for new and existing products.
