Role: Product Development Assistant Student Placement
Location: Central London
Hours: Full Time, 12 month placement
Halfpenny London are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking placement student to join the Product Development team on a full time basis within a fast paced environment.
The ideal candidate would have:
- Machine and hand sewing ability
- Basic pattern cutting knowledge
- Self-driven, resourceful & responsible
- Eagerness to learn and work within the team
- Willingness to complete a variety of tasks
- Be proactive, detail oriented and take initiative in all given tasks.
Tasks may include, but not limited to:
- Assist in pattern development from design to sketch
- Basic pattern grading (with training & guidance)
- Fabric handling, cutting for toiles and finished garments in final fabrics
- Sewing toiles, sampling, hand sewing and finishing
- Assisting in recording accurate make costs and raw material usage
- Assuring quality control and brand standards are upkept throughout all products
- Making accessories for collection development
- General organisation of the workroom including patterns, fabrics, samples, tools etc.
- General studio errands
- Assisting in fitting sessions
- Assisting in production QC sessions
What you will learn:
- Professional industry standards within the bridal Product Development process in collections, development to production process and bridal requests
- Stages and processes of both sampling and production
- Working with final fabrics and cutting techniques
- Sewing skills, and construction techniques both by hand and machine
- Working within a collaborative team to learn and apply advice to product Introduction to production procedures within the industry
Although this position is for the Product Development team, the successful candidate will be expected when required to undertake tasks from all areas of the business, and gain many skills relating to the running of a thriving company at an exciting stage of growth.
