What is the purpose of this job?
In conjunction with key industry partners, RDG has developed and delivered two phases of the Green Travel Pledge, which is the rail industry’s commitment to provide detailed, accurate and reliable data on the carbon emissions of rail journeys.
The Product Owner for Green Travel Pledge will be responsible for the development and delivery of the product strategy and roadmap, including securing future investment, in line with customer needs and with the goal of increasing travel by train.
What can I expect to do in this job?
· Develop the Green Travel Pledge product strategy and roadmap, including business case for future investment, in line with the business strategy and customer needs.
· Act as subject matter expert on Green Travel Pledge liaising and engaging with train companies and other key stakeholders to gather feedback and align product goals.
· Identify, prioritise and deliver product backlog, including new features, enhancements and bug fixes, based on business value, customer needs and technical feasibility.
· Lead data collation, review, improvement and normalisation work in line with scope and any accreditation requirements.
· Ongoing review of market and customer needs to stay informed about market trends, customer feedback, and user behaviour to inform product roadmap and prioritisation of backlog.
Requirements
Essential
· Demonstrable experience (3+ years) working in a modern agile Product Manager role, developing a product roadmap and managing a product end-to-end to grow usage and customer satisfaction
· Experience developing a deep understanding of customer needs and translating into clear product requirements
· Experience developing and prioritising a product backlog and driving delivery of the product roadmap
· Data-driven and performance mindset - ability to analyse data, form hypotheses, and decide what to do next
· Knowledge of rail industry data sets
· Customer first approach balanced with commercial acumen
· Effective stakeholder management skills and an excellent communicator
· Hands-on approach, not just theoretical
· Strong work ethic with a real commitment to continuous improvement and working as a team
Desirable
· Knowledge of or experience working in the rail industry
· Excellent organisational and project management skills with proven track record of management of budgets.
· Ability to challenge convention and understanding of how the different capabilities can be harnessed to support overall business objectives.
