Contract type: 1 x 6-month fixed term contract/attachment and 1 x 10-month fixed term contract/attachment
Location: Office base is Bristol. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office with home working. The candidate should expect regular travel around the UK on Fridays when working on Any Questions?.

Salary: £25,609 - £35,961 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Freelancers are eligible to apply for an internal role if they are on a Worker Contract and they have worked continuously for 6 months. Job Introduction


BBC AUDIO WALES AND WEST OF ENGLAND:

This is a new department within BBC Audio bringing together network radio production teams in Cardiff and Bristol. Staff have opportunities for collaborating, developing ideas and their careers and access to a wide range of output across science, factual, rural affairs, food, documentaries, music and drama for all BBC UK Radio networks, the World Service and BBC Sounds.

Main Responsibilities


The Production Co-ordinator provides logistical and co-ordination support to the production team on one or more productions, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
As a Production Co-ordinator you will:


  • Work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive, multiplatform content by providing the ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints
  • Compile pre and post production paperwork, as well as any other programme metadata required
  • Clear copyright material for all platforms
  • Support both the prep and TX of live programmes
  • Book and procure resources required to deliver the programmes
  • Provide administrative support for the production office
  • Negotiate artist and contributor fees
  • As part of these roles you’ll be working on Any Questions?, which is BBC Radio 4’s weekly topical debate programme, reaching 1.4m listeners each week. You will be crucial to planning and organising the logistics for up to 50 outside broadcasts each year.

Are you the right candidate?


The ideal candidate will have:


  • Proven track record of playing a co-ordinating role within a production team
  • Demonstrable experience working on radio productions (podcasts, live programmes and weekly outside broadcasts desirable)
  • Experience of delivering a range of/parts of productions on time and on budget and coordinating deliverables for productions
  • Good working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical awareness
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills; able to schedule and prioritise people and activities to meet operational deadlines
  • Able to use and advise on production systems and adopt new technologies on productions. Knowledge of digital audio workstations, financial & purchasing systems as well as travel & delivery and archiving platforms advantageous
  • Know how to identify and source suitable resources and negotiate deals within given parameters
  • Business and finance skills; able to prepare, manage and/or monitor specific production resource plans and budgets
  • Knowledge of the BBC and the wider industry
  • Demonstrable knowledge of, and interest in, politics
  • Proven ability to deal with high profile guests
