Varfell Farms is the world’s largest grower and packer of daffodils, also grow brodiaea and agapanthus cut flowers, based in Penzance we grow on approximately 3,500 acres across Cornwall.
Our summer flowers are handpicked and we have a variety of jobs that will become available from June through to September. We are looking for people to come and join us for this period.
Over looking mounts bay, Varfell is a stunning place to spend a summer, surrounded by coasts the beaches are plentiful. Views of rugged cliffs as often seen in Poldark and some of the world’s best surfing on our doorstep.
Job description
We are looking for individuals to join our busy team as Production Operators and/or Flower Pickers.
The job can be physically demanding, working on production lines and/or outdoors in open fields all day in the summer weathers, the role involves bending, walking often on uneven ground, manual handling lifting and carrying flower stems.
Key Tasks
- Bulb Cleaning & Grading duties
- Ensuring that the bulbs are clean and graded according to specifications.
- Accurately cropping the various summer flowers in line with company & customer specifications
- Ensuring that you follow the company standards and policies
- Ensuring that your area is clean & tidy and you are compliant with Health & Safety guidance.
Applicants must:
- Have attention to detail – to remove necessary unwanted objectives from bulb grading/cleaning operation / Pick flowers to correct specification
- Willing to help others
- Be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Normal working hours are 48 per week and you will be paid a minimum of £11.44 per hour. There may be the need to work occasional overtime for which there is an overtime rate applicable
- June to August 2024 (weather and crop dependent)
- Working 6 days per week, 48 hours +
- Full training provided
- Free transport from farm to fields
- PPE provided where necessary
- Accommodation available for the duration of employment where necessary.
Pay is weekly in arrears.
