Project Accountant - Soho House Design (12 Month FTC)

The Role... 

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be an integral part of the Finance team of Design & Build division based in London.

The role is supported by Assistant Project Accountant, but expected to own the financial control responsibilities for design and build projects in UK, Europe and ROW. Candidates with strong technical & analytical skills, design & development backgrounds, and in-depth commercial sense are desired.   

Main Duties... 

Reporting 

  • Prepare monthly P&L for FD's review and sign-off. 
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations. 
  • Quarterly analysis on P&L and Balance Sheet (QoQ, YoY) 
  • Monthly P&L Debrief meeting with Leads and Seniors  
  • Overhead accruals with comparison and commentary to forecast and assisting with reforecasting if necessary. 
  • Payroll forecast and analysis. 
  • Weekly Payroll cost allocation to project and posting, including month end accruals. 
  • Manage audit queries and ensure all processes comply with SOX. 

Project 

  • Monthly project performance analysis including revenue and margin analysis, by cost centre by revenue type. 
  • Project revenue recognition including accrued revenue, deferred revenue, monthly billing (external & internal) analysis, design revenue (design time) analysis, contract revenue (construction & procurement) recognition, sub-contractor & consultant recovery.  
  • Design revenue forecast, Comparison of forecast and actual, analysis on capacity, productivity and etc.  
  • Owner of Project Fee calculator, Resource forecast schedule (spreadsheet), Oversight of Weekly timesheet analysis 
  • Ensuring timely invoicing of external projects in line with agreement. 
  • Ownership of Capex submission, approval tracking and cost management. 
  • Project setup within ERP system to correctly process and monitor cost and revenue. 
  • Preparing and allocating payroll on a project basis for 50+ employees. 
  • Timesheet maintenance for design and development team. Reporting weekly project progress 
  • and areas for saving and highlighting any potential revenue risks. 
  • Monitoring costs and expenses by project; tracking against budget and reviewing monthly with 
  • the commercial team for Cost Value Reporting; Cost moves. 
  • Overseeing other project administration and monitoring tasks 

FP&A 

    P&L Management, reforecasting revenue and cost where necessary.  Collaborate with design and development team to accurately forecast revenue based on project resources and deadlines.  Work with FD on annual and rolling budgeting and forecasting of cost and revenue across 3 business units.  Calculate and communicate internal accrual within the group.  Preparation and commentary for the management board pack and analysis or risks and opportunities.   Annual budget preparation by cost centre 

Overseeing 

    Preparing and analysing the quarterly VAT Return via Sage 200.  Weekly cashbook reconciliation across currencies ensuring correct project allocation.  Fixed asset register maintenance, Depreciation reporting and Capital reporting to group.  Intercompany reconciliation between multiple entities across the company.  Monthly CIS returns to HMRC for subcontractors.  Processing company expenses via Concur in line with company policy.  Company credit card and cash card reconciliations.  Handling cash requests for vintage trips for designers and reconciliation of purchases 

Adhoc 

    Maintaining and improving processes and files to ensure an efficient work environment for all.  Onboarding; mentoring and coaching new starters in the team and reviewing their progress with senior management to assist with target setting and appraisals.  Completion of accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations to Sage to attain end deadlines. 

What We Are Looking For... 

    Fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA  Commercially focused business partner  Exceptional analytical skills and an ability to work through problems logically and with perspective, especially around KPI measurement and analysis  Proficient Excel/Power BI knowledge, IT and accounting software knowledge, ERP system knowledge  High attention to detail, organised, able to manage own time and workload, demonstrate initiative.   Team player with hands-on, can-do attitude  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, interacting effectively at all levels in business.  Ability to get the best out of financial systems and demonstrable evidence of process improvement / re-engineering.  Strong problem-solving ability.
