Westwood Recruitment are currently on the lookout for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our client in Chelmsford on a permanent basis. They specialise in providing integrated Building Services design and installation to the Commercial and Industrial sectors. My client are looking for someone who is eager to advance their career and join the in-house engineering team with occasional off-site work for meetings and site visits as needed. Candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance from the office.
Role Responsibilities:
The role entails overseeing all aspects of mechanical services engineering for our projects at a senior level, from initial stages to completion and final account settlement. Duties include but are not limited to:
Estimating and pricing inquiries, collaborating with our Estimating Manager on tender submissions.
Developing mechanical services designs and creating technical documentation such as working drawings, schematics, installation detail drawings, and technical submittals.
Communicating with clients, main contractors, design teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Coordinating services designs and requirements with the mechanical division and external contractors.
Upholding company standards and procedures in all work aspects.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, under senior management and directors' supervision.
Strong problem-solving skills, able to propose technical solutions and alternatives for value engineering.
Role Requirements:
Minimum HNC level education in Mechanical Services Engineering or a related field
Minimum of five years' experience in a similar role or environment.
Proficiency in relevant regulations and standards for mechanical and public health engineering installations.
Comprehensive understanding of mechanical services installations, materials, techniques, and applications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and experienced in AutoCAD software.
Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Services or a related field is preferred
Experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD software and industry-standard software packages such as IES or Hevacomp Trimble Estimation
