Due to winning significant new business from automotive OEM customers, an experienced Project Engineer is sought to lead industrialisation of assembly processes and new product introduction activities
Project Engineer - Automotive
Salary: c£45000
Location: Wolverhampton
As an NPI Project Engineer you will be required to manage multiple projects together with a small team of design and manufacturing engineers
Duties:
o Lead delivery of projects and capital equipment in line with approved budget, including control of contractors involved.
o Support the initial specification of project related equipment.
o Liaise with NPI and plant teams to ensure smooth introduction of new projects to agreed timing.
o Ensure all trials are conducted in a timely manner and all functions support up to PSW approval.
o Involvement in tooling/ equipment buy off/ project closure activities.
o Support the quality team on the PPAP process, and all APQP gateways.
o Working closely with Manufacturing Team to ensure timely introduction of plant based projects, D/PFMEA reviews and lessons learnt reviews.
Experience:
You will already be an established Project Engineer, Launch Engineer, NPI Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer who would relish working for multinational manufacturing organisation where you will be very influential and responsible for successful product introduction from initial customer enquiry through to series production
o HNC/ Degree Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar
o An experienced individual with practical project experience and the ability to manage multiple / short lifetime projects ideally gained within the automotive, off highway or special purpose vehicle industry
o Metal stamping/ presswork, fabrication, welded/ joining assemblies and product assembly would be an advantage however any manufacturing using tooling for forming processes will be considered
o Must be able to work as part of a team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
o Self-motivated and confident with taking responsibility for all areas of work
o Sound decision making and problem-solving skills
o Able to travel throughout UK and Europe to meet suppliers or visit other plants
