Alternative Heat specialises in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of Prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Ireland and into the EU. We also offer turnkey design, build & operate solutions for commercial energy centers and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout the UK, Ireland & EU.
We are currently looking to fill the role of Project Manager to support our growing Contracts Team in our Birmingham Office. This post is a permanent contract and offers an amazing opportunity for a candidate who wants to gain experience with a progressive and dynamic company. The role is to manage the delivery of a project from installation, through commissioning and handover stages. Your primary focus within this role will be the management, co-ordination, tracking and reporting on the commissioning elements of a diverse range of decarbonisation projects.

Job summary:
The successful candidate would be working in conjunction with multi disciplined site based teams and provide a single liaison between office and site based teams, hence previous experience working on commercial M&E projects at a management level is essential.
Our projects are mostly based in the UK and Ireland however we also deliver works in other Cities throughout the EU, which are predominantly commercial M&E laid installations, it would be deemed essential that you have previous MEP experience either as a Project Manager/Mechanical Construction Manager or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities
- To manage and develop your site management team to ensure timely delivery of commissioning on all projects.
- Develop & manage robust commissioning plans and trackers for all projects.
- Carry out commissionabilty reviews of MEP design drawings and specifications.
- Ensure your managers & site teams are working as efficiently as possible and all high-level objects have been set out for your management team to be accomplish in target dates.
- Ensure all drawings that the site teams are working to are the correct revision.
- Liaise with the project co-ordinator to ensure all high-level templates are populated and Setout for the commissioning team to follow. (i.e., Schedule of Deliverables / trackers / programmes / lessons learnt)
- Prepare a weekly project meeting with the wider internal Alt Heat team to ensure critical path elements are being actioned and addressed by the relevant departments.
- Attend Monthly Meetings with the wider Management teams to review company performance and any changes to company procedures, some of which you will filter through you team.
- Ensure the preparation of O&M manuals upon completion of the project. Ensure the team has marked up all As-built drawings and compiled all associated certs.
- Ability to work in conjunction with the client to ensure Alt Heat and their site teams work is carried out safely and to a high standard.
- Ensure the tracking of project performance is tracked on a weekly basis via progress reporting back AH Management
Travel requirements:
This role is aimed to be predominantly office based, with an element of on site attendance as there will be a requirement to attend frequent site meetings to witness testing / commissioning or hand over recently completed projects to clients.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Good Microsoft Office skills – to include Excel, Word, Projects, and Outlook
- Relevant experience with Mechanical and / or Electrical Installation and Management within the field.
- Ability to take ownership of their duties and a willingness to grow and learn within their team and the company.
- Demonstrate a good ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills both internally and externally with our clients.
- Punctual, Reliable and Trustworthy.
- Have Managed a team in your previous role for more than 3 years
