The Project Manager is responsible for creating, leading and implementing Data & Analytics transformation projects that meet the requirements of the RIIO-ED2 & RIIO-T2 business plans.

They collaborate with the cross-discipline department (data science, data engineering, etc.), other business teams and externals to plan and execute the data and analytics strategy and ensuring successful project outcomes, efficient resource utilisation, and a data-centric mindset within the organisation.

 

What you'll be doing

Project Management:

  • Lead the end-to-end management of identified data product projects, from initiation to delivery.

  • Implement project controls across all aspects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Create, maintain, and monitor detailed project plans, including milestones and dependencies.

 

Risk and Issue Management:

  • Proactively identify risks and issues related to data product development.

  • Collaborate to develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address challenges promptly.

  • Stakeholder Communication:

  • Engage with key business stakeholders to understand their requirements and expectations.

  • Influence decision-making by providing insights and recommendations.

  • Foster strong relationships to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Progress Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates on project status, achievements, and challenges.

  • Prepare concise weekly progress reports for management and relevant teams.

  • Highlight any deviations from the plan and propose corrective actions.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the data product team.

  • Identify process enhancements, best practices, and lessons learned.

  • Implement changes to optimise project execution.

 

Inter-Project Coordination:

  • Understand the potential interactions between proposed projects.

  • Develop initiatives that minimise conflicts and enhance overall deliverability.

  • Collaborate within the business to align priorities and resources.

 

Data-Driven Culture Advocacy:

  • Champion the adoption of data-driven practices across SP Energy Networks and Encourage data literacy, analytics, and evidence-based decision-making.

  • Promote the value of data products in achieving organisational goals.

 

What you'll bring

To be successful, you will have:

  • Evidence of strong project management skills and experience of working with teams in a multi-disciplined environment.

  • Experience of managing and implementing changes in a complex business environment.

  • Understand customer needs.

  • Technical understanding of IT and Data Product delivery to work with data scientists, data engineer and business stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of project governance, risk, budgeting and controls.

  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.

  • High level of IT literacy including knowledge of MSProject, MS Officeand PowerBI.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management ability.

  • Good understanding of benefit management and realisation.

  • The capability to lead, coach and motivate a team; ensuring collaboration and high productivity.

  • The ability to manage and resolve conflict.
