Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 Depending on Experience, + Very generous OT rates
Hours: 42-hour week made up of 12-hour rotating shift pattern: x2 Days, x2 Nights, x4 Days Off. Overtime available. Operate 24/7/365

What are we looking for?
Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Protection Officer to join our Protective Services Department.
You will assist the Protective Services department by providing a dynamic and enhanced VIP focused Protection service to CCL, this will be achieved by officers who have demonstratable expertise in close protection.
The role involves providing a comprehensive in-house security service to high-profile individuals, including celebrities, UHNWIs, VIPs, diplomats, dignitaries, royalty, and politicians when they are on our premises. The protection Officer will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our VIP’s both reactively and pro-actively combined with other function to reduce risks to people, property, and activities in the organization.

The role involves diverse responsibilities, such as protecting our VIP and visitors, security planning, crisis management, and maintaining a discreet and efficient security service.
The role is responsible for the quality of the patient/visitor experience. The role will create and operationalize measures of success and uses data to make effective decisions that continuously improves security and service, operates efficiently, and ensures effective stewardship of resources.

What will your duties include?
  • Provide full security protection for our VIP’s and visitors during their visit.
  • Ensure the security of CCL buildings by conducting thorough checks and patrols when not conducting VIP protection duties, by actively participating in any programmes, activities, or requests from the protective services leadership team.
  • Stay fully aware of the movement schedule of the VIP’s, including their guests and visitors as well as clinical appointment plan.
  • Assist in the compilation of security risk assessments to proactively identify potential threats.
  • Collaborate with the protective services management team to coordinate security duties and maintain effective communication.
  • VIP Protection Officers will actively participate in dynamic threat assessments to identify potential risks to the VIP, this will include dynamic crisis management to mitigate risks, including altering travel timings, adjusting security measures, or seeking alternative routes. Always operating in line with training provided by the protective services leadership team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse situations quickly, assess potential risks, and develop effective strategies for mitigating threats.
  • Employ creative and strategic critical thinking skills to address challenges that may arise during protection operations or crisis situations.
  • Make informed and timely decisions under pressure, considering the safety and well-being of all the role players.
  • Exhibit flexibility in adjusting security plans based on evolving circumstances, ensuring an initiative-taking response to dynamic situations.
  • In the event of security threats or breaches, Close Protection Officers must implement crisis management protocols to safeguard the principal and resolve the situation. This may involve evacuation procedures, communication with the LSOC and quick decision-making under pressure.
  • VIP Protection Officers often function as a point of contact for the principal's entourage. During crises, effective communication with family members or the entourage is crucial to provide updates, reassurance, and coordination of any necessary actions.
  • VIP Protection Officers need to anticipate potential risks and have contingency plans in place for unexpected events that may occur.
  • Compiling Assessments are part of the Close Protection Officer's responsibilities includes compiling security risk assessments. These assessments inform crisis management plans by identifying vulnerabilities and proposing preventive measures.
  • Continuous Improvement: After any security incident or crisis, VIP Protection Officers contribute to incident reports. These reports are valuable tools for continuous improvement, helping the security team understand the causes of incidents and identify areas for enhancement in crisis management protocols.
  • Other duties assigned.

What we need from you?
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) (Required)
  • Security NVQ’s (Required)
  • Supervisory experience (Required)
  • Door Supervisor (Required)
  • VIP Protection Training certificates (Required)
  • Possession of an up-to-date Close Protection License through the relevant regulatory authority is a standard requirement.
  • Substantial work experience in close protection or a related field is essential
  • Proven history of providing security services for high-profile individuals, celebrities, diplomats, or other VIPs is essential
  • Experience in the security industry is essential, this may include roles in executive protection, private security, law enforcement, or military service.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality is crucial.
  • Effective communication and people skills are essential. VIP Protection Officers must be able to communicate clearly with team members, clients, and external entities, fostering positive relationships and collaboration.
