Location of Role: Dartford
Advert Closing Date: 12/04/2024
Starting Salary: £23,646.00 (pro-rata for part-time vacancies)
Part/Full Time: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Mon-Fri with occasional evening/weekends
Weekend/Evening Working: Yes
An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals to undertake the role of Public Enquiry Officer based in North Kent.
The contractual workplace is North Kent Police Station (Northfleet) but will also include covering Dartford and Gravesend Contact Points, as well as part of a larger divisional team - there will be a requirement for the successful candidate to travel to other stations to perform their duties and support colleagues during periods of absence and annual leave. You may also be required to travel outside of your division.
This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidate to deal with a wide variety of enquiries from members of the public, as well as colleagues and partner agencies. You will be expected to take relevant information or detailed reports for further investigation and dissemination to appropriate departments or agencies for further action. Enquiries can include but are not limited to, taking accurate and detailed reports of crime (either recent or historic), sign posting queries to correct agencies, as well as dealing with deliveries.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of working with the public, sometimes in a pressurised situation, and of providing a high standard of service delivery. Candidates will be able to provide evidence that support the ability to treat people with dignity and respect, regardless of the circumstances or situation. The successful candidate will be expected to take personal responsibility for making sure they work effectively to deliver the best service to the public, both individually and with others.
The successful candidate will also be able to make independent decisions and multi-task, inspiring confidence in the public they are helping. It is essential that they also work well as part of a team, including the wider Public Enquiry Department, as well as with all colleagues within Kent Police. Candidates will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of delivering customer service and following policy and protocols to achieve the best outcomes. The ability to be responsive to continuous change and expectations is also essential, this relates to both the public and the policing environment.
Applicants will need to provide evidence of keyboard skills and an understanding of computer systems as this is a key part of the role. Training will be provided for any database that is unfamiliar, however knowledge of Police System such as STORM, Athena and PNC would be an advantage.
This opportunity would suit a highly motivated and dynamic individual who can bring their wide experience to Public Enquiry Office and ensure that the public and their requirements are handled in a safe and welcoming environment.
