Job description

Position: Quality Control Laboratory Technician

Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester

Schedule: Friday to Sunday, 6am - 6pm (36 hours per week)

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to join their client, a chemical manufacturing company in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the QC Lab Manager, the Quality Control Laboratory Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of all goods entering or leaving the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely completion of product testing for in-process and final analysis/specifications.
  • Prepare pre-shipment samples and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Test incoming materials as needed.
  • Conduct project and development work as assigned.
  • Perform procedures related to the test equipment calibration schedule.
  • Issue accurate process adjustment instructions to production.
  • Complete inspection and test procedures as specified in the product manufacturing instructions and timely complete the respective quality documents.
  • Identify non-conforming materials or processes and arrange for re-processing, concession usage, or safe disposal, and complete the corresponding quality records.
  • Immediately inform the Senior QC Chemist or QC Lab Manager of any abnormal situations that cannot be resolved.
  • Authorize changes in product specifications, formulas, and manufacturing instructions in the absence of the Works QC Chemist.
  • Liaise with the Senior QC Chemist, QC Lab Manager, and/or Managing Director on technical matters and concessions.
  • Ensure all quality control activities comply with Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality management systems.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a busy laboratory environment.
  • Ability to follow chemistry testing techniques.
  • Experience working in a chemical process industry.
  • Familiarity with management systems.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis.
  • Experience with equipment calibration procedures.
  • Proficiency in completing inspection and test procedures.
