As Quality Control for Fresh Produce, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of Fresh Produce products throughout the production process. This role involves inspecting, testing, and evaluating Fresh Produce items to ensure they meet established standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with production teams and suppliers to maintain high-quality standards and minimize product defects.
Key summary of Activities & Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of Fresh Produce products at various stages of the picking process to assess quality, appearance, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform Quality Control tests, including but not limited to visual inspections, sensory evaluations, and measurements of key attributes such as size, colour, texture, and flavour.
- Identify and report product defects, non-conformities, or safety hazards to relevant stakeholders and take appropriate corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with teams across the business to address quality issues and implement corrective and preventive measures to improve product quality and consistency.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the Quality Control area to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.
- Conduct regular audits of picking processes, facilities, and equipment to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards.
- Provide training and guidance to operational staff on Quality Control procedures, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and quality of incoming raw materials and ingredients to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to continuously improve product quality and safety.
Key Attributes:
- Previous experience in Quality Control or quality assurance, preferably in the Fresh Produce industry.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately assess product quality and identify defects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed, especially during peak operational periods.
- Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GFSI) is a plus.

- This is a part-time role, working Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week.
