About the Opportunity


We are excited to announce an opening for a Quality Engineer within our dynamic Decommissioning and Regeneration Solutions team at Jacobs, located in Birchwood, Warrington. This role is integral to our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality in our nuclear decommissioning projects and other growth sectors.

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of our operations adhere to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be essential in upholding our reputation for excellence in the complex and highly regulated field of nuclear decommissioning.



Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and processes to support our projects and business.
  • Conduct thorough and regular inspections and audits of project activities to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Be the focal point for investigating any non-conformance incidents and development of corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to develop, monitor and report on quality metrics. This will include supporting the development of digitally enabled improvements to Quality Engineering and quality management.
  • With engineering and project management teams, assist in providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with industry regulations and standards related to nuclear decommissioning and other growth sectors as identified, ensuring all projects are compliant.
  • Provide quality-related guidance to project teams, enhancing their understanding and adherence to quality standards.
  • Participate in client and internal meetings, offering expertise in quality assurance and addressing any quality-related concerns.
  • Work closely with suppliers and contractors to ensure their processes and outputs meet our quality requirements.
  • Oversee the documentation and record-keeping processes to ensure thorough and accurate compliance records.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Expertise in Quality Engineering within the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards pertinent to nuclear decommissioning.
  • Experience in managing quality assurance in complex engineering projects.
  • A desire to be innovative in how we use digital tools to enable and accelerate these activities while retaining full control and assurance throughout A proactive and detail-oriented approach to quality assurance, capable of working effectively in team-oriented and client-focused environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in conducting detailed audits, inspections, and quality assessments in challenging environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, coupled with the ability to develop and implement effective corrective action plans, working collaboratively with project teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and project teams.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of the latest industry standards and best practices in quality assurance.
